"Intelligent. Incisive. Articulate"
Mr. Katz is the author of numerous articles on the Middle East conflict and has been published in both the print and online media. He is a graduate of Syracuse University with a minor in political science from the prestigious Maxwell School. He studied law in New York and England and is admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and the Federal Courts in New York and the United States Supreme Court.
Alan began his foray into political commentary with a 1982 essay on self-defense for Israel in reaction to a NY Times Op-Ed piece highly critical of Israel for going into Lebanon from where the PLO was shooting at them.
Over the years, Alan’s letters have challenged the media’s portrayal of Israel as inaccurate and biased. “The purpose of my letters,” he states, “is to humanize the Israelis in this conflict and to set the record straight.” Overall, he continues to defend Israel against the media’s demonization of it, and the lionization of the Palestinians who are almost always mis-characterized as innocent victims.
As an expert on media bias in Israel, Alan has become known as a compelling and fact-based speaker on both a national and local level. His presentations address the topics and issues relevant to Israel today. Whether focusing on the political climate, media inaccuracies or social issues affecting Israel, Alan effectively strips away the media’s bias about Arab/Palestinian issues and opens his audiences to the untapped truth and skewed examples of misreporting, subtle falsehoods and doctored photos.
A Trustee of the Parker Jewish Institute, a member of the Long Island Board of JNF and a past member of the Board of Manager of Cancer Care of Long Island, Alan lives on Long Island, NY with his wife Randi and two daughters Stefanie and Pamela.
